1). AGHA SHAHID ALI : Agha shahid Ali an eminent poet of kashmiri origin taught at the university of Massachusetts, princeton college and the MFA program of Warren Wilson college.
The poetic collection " Rooms are never finishes " Was a finalist for the national book Award of United States in 2001.
2). ATHAR KHAN : Athar Amir-ul- shafi Khan secured 2nd position in the IAS 2015 exam. He has a B.Tech in Electrical engineering from IIT Mandi and hails from Anantnag District.
3). AMITABH MATOO : Amitabh Matoo is one the India's leading thinker and writers on international level. He became the youngest vice chancellor of the University of Jammu in 2002. He was conferred with padma shri in 2008.
4). AYOTALLAH AGHA SYED YOUSUF AL MOOSAVI : He was a kashmiri religious scholar and the leafer of Shia sect of Muslims.
He founded the " Anjuman e sharia " Organisation.
5). ADBUL GHANI MIR : He is the first kashmiri who got into Indian Police Service (IPS) as a Direct recruit (1994 Batch). He was recently awarded the president's police medal for distinguished services. He also runs initiative for competation promotion In J&k (ICPJK) a non profit making coaching centre.
6). BILQUIS MIR : she is the first kashmiri women to become the National Nayaking and Canoeing Coach of India . She was Awarded the Jammu and Kashmir Award for outstanding sports person.
7). BHAJAN SOPORI : Pandit Bhajan Sopori is a santoor maestro hailing from sopore in kashmir valley. He has received many awards of merit of his musical excellence.
Apart from India , he has performed in various countries including Germany, USA, England and Egypt. He was awarded padma shri in 2004.
8). BASHARAT PEER : Basharat peer is a kashmiri journalist and script writter based in New York. He is the Author of 'curfewed night' which won the crossword prize for the Non - Fiction and was choosen among the Books of the year by the Economist and the New yorker.
9). DEEPALI WATTAL : Depali Wattal is a melody queen , who has become a shinning star in the kashmiri music industry.
She has sung more than 2000 songs in various languages including Dogri, pahari and Punjabi.
10). FAROOQ ABDULLAH : Farooq Abdullah is the Son of Sheikh Abdullah and has served as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir on several occasions since 1982.
He was a cabinet minister in Manmohan singh Government.
11). GHULAM RASOOL SANTOSH : Ghulam Rasool Santosh was a prominent Kashmiri painter. He was best known for his themes inspired by 'kashmiri Shivaism'.
12). GHULAM NABI AZAD : Ghulam Nahi Azad is a politician from Indian National Congress . He served as chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from November 2005 to july 11, 2008. He was also member of Rajya sabha.
13). GUL MUSTUFA : Gul Mustufa, a skier is the only player from UT of jammu and kashmir , who was participated in Winter Olympic Games in Calgary Cannada in 1988.
14). KARAN SINGH : Karan Singh is the Son))of the last ruler of princely state of jammu and kashmir , Hari Singh.
He served successively as Sadr e Riyasat and Governor of Jammu and kashmir.
He also served as indian ambassadors in the USA.
15). ALTAF BUKHARI : Altaf Bukhari is one of the leading Industrialist of jammu and kashmir . He also served as the Education Minister of Erstwhile state.
He is the president of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP).
16). MUFTI MOHAMMAD SYED : Mufti Mohd. Syed served twice as the chief Minister of Jammu and kashmir .
He also served as the home minister of India.
He was the patron of PDP peoples Democratic party , a jammu and kashmir based party , which he formed in july 1999..
17). PADMA SACHDEV : Padma Sachdev is first modern women poet of Dogri language. Her poetry collection " Meri Kavita Mere Geet " has won the sahitya Academy Award in 1971.
She has also received Padma shri Award in 2001.
18). GIRDHARI LAL DOGRA : Girdhari Lal Dogra was a member of Lok Sabha , as well as, a member of Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly. He served as Finance Minister of the Jammu and Kashmir state for 26 years.
19). PARVEZ RASOOL : Parvez Rasool is the first kashmiri cricketer to play for Indian National Cricket Team , India A for Royal challengers Banglore RCB in the IPL indian premier League.
20). REHMAN RAHI : Rehman Rahi is a kashmiri poet , translator and critic . He is the first kashmir writter to be awarded the Gyanpith Award, the highest literary Award for his poetic collections " Suyen Rud Jearan manz "
