Himalayan rivers : these rivers are also called Antecedent Rivers. There are 3 main himalayan rivers.
1). The Indus.
2). The Ganga.
3). The Brahamputra.
1). The Indus River :- one of the longest river of Asia, with a total length of 2880 kms. river indus is also known as Sindhu. Origin of river indus is Mansorovar Lakes Tibet ( China). Indus river crosses three countries India China And pakistan. The largest portion of River Indus is in Pakistan and from pakistan It Drains into the Arabian sea. Indus enters India through Ladakh. Also India got her from river indus , Asia's longest river Yangdze, world longest river is Nile river and the World largest is is river Amazon.
The famous Indus valley civilization flourished around this river. One of the important Tributaries of Indus river in Ladakh is zanskar river, shyok river. Other Himalayan tributaries of Indus are, Gilgit, Gartang, Dras, Shiger, Hunza.
From Afghanistan River kabul joins Indus.
Just above mithankot, the Indus river receives (panjand) , the Accumulated Water of its Five main eastern tributaries Jehlum, Chenab, Beas, Ravi, Satluj .

a). Jehlum:- The origin of Jehlum is the spring of verinag. It flows through srinagar and feeds wular lake. The total length of river jehlum is 720 ksm.

B). Chenab:- Origin -Baralacha pass (Himachal pradesh). Chenab river is also known as (Chandra Bhaga) , because it is formed by two streams chandra and Bhaga.Its the largest tributary of River indus, salal Dam is constructed on this river, Ancient name of chenab is Askini. The total length of chenab river is 960 kms.

C). Beas:-
Origin -Beas kund Rohtang pass (himachal pradesh) . Beas is the only river which originates and ends in India. Beas rivers flows through kullu and manali. The ancient name of this river is Vipasha.

d). Ravi / iravati :-
Origin -kullu hills Rohtang pass (himachal pradesh). The river flows as Indo pak border for a particular distance. Ranjit sagar Dam/thein Dam is constructed on this river. The ancient name of Ravi river is Parushni.

e). Sutluj :- red river :-
Origin - Mansarovar lakes tibet.
Sutluj river gives or feeds water to Bhakra Nangal project. This river is also known as Satardee. Longesr tributary of Indus. The ancient name of this river is Shatudri.

The Ganga River
Origin - Gaumuk Gangotri Glacier, utter kashi /uttrakhand.
National river of India. The ganga river system is the largest river system india. At Origin /source point ganga is known as Bhagirathi.
Alakanannda river joins Bhagirathi at Devprayag then it is known as Ganga. Total length of this ri q q aaver is 2525 kms. Its extented to Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, west Bengal .
Ganga river makes its first tributary at Farakka in west Bengal . Fresh water Dolphins are found in this river.

a). Ramganga / Neelam river :-
Origin - Dudhatoli Range uttrakhand
Ramganga flows through The famous National park Jim corbet national park. Joins Ganga at Fategarh Uttar pradesh. Ancient name of Ramganga - Ratevahini.

b).Gomti River:-
Origin - Gomat taal, fulhaar gherl U.P.
Gomiti river is the only river which do not originates from himalayas . Joins Ganga at Uttar Pradesh. Gomti river flows through Uttar Pradesh.

Origin - Mapchachungo Glacier Tibet.
Its Ghagra is trans boundry river.
Ghagra river is largest river in Nepal.
Its is the largest tributary of Ganga.
Ayodhya is situated on the right bank of ghagra river.

This river flows through west bengal and bihar.
Mahananda river joins joins Ganga at Nawabganj.
The Brahamputa river
Origin - Chemayungdung Glacier /Angsi Glacier tibet. The total legth of river is 2900 kms. The old sanskrit name of Brahamputra river is -Lahitya.
It enters india through Arunachal Pradesh. At entry point Brahamputra is known as siang river, local name of Brahamputra river in Assam is Luit. In Lakhinpur District of Assam Brahamputra is divided into two channels Kherkutia and Brahamputra channel. Brahamputra enters Bangladesh from Dhuburi Assam, in India main Brahamputra river flows through Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
